Neil Simon’s ‘Fools’ to stage in Iran

Theater actor and director Mohsen Sotoudeh is to stage ‘Fools’ by American screenwriter Neil Simon in Iran.

‘Fools,’ written by American author, screenwriter and playwright Neil Simon and directed by theater actor and director Mohsen Sotoudeh, is underway at Parviz Parastoui Theater in Tehran.

The comic drama, written in 1981, is set in an idyllic Ukrainian hamlet named Kulyenchikov in the late 19th century.

Actor and translator Shahram Zargar, who is a fan of Simon’s works, has converted the play into Persian. So far, he has translated 14 works by Neil Simon.

Mohsen Sotoudeh has a role in the play, alongside fellow cast members Ashkan Delavari, Ehsan Forouzesh, Sipan Dowlatkhah, Monireh Torabi, Mehrnoush Khalili, Amin Ebrahimi, Nesa Farhadi, Hanieh Gholami, Amir Ali Bastani, Nazanin Jafarzadeh and Seyed Pouya Beigi.

The play opened on February 6 and will continue to run until February 26.
